I’ve searched all over the internet for stories of dancers using Shakeology. Why? Because I was a dancer growing up and still teach dance. I know that dance is a sport that is not often thought about for health drinks etc. I wanted to know if dancers have yet to find Shakeology and if any had good experience with it. Anyway – Much to my surprise: I found very few. (Like…maybe one. And I think that one was a dancer asking if any other dancers have tried it…) That still didn’t answer my question though: Should a dancer’s diet include shakeology?
Here’s my opinion:
YES.
There are many reasons why I think a dancer’s diet should include Shakeology. I have been a dancer for 22 years and an instructor for 10. I have been to many dance competitions, recitals and performances. I have watched what dancers have consumed while having the knowledge of what they SHOULD consume. I have been both the one to eat and drink JUNK and one to eat healthy. I have found the convenience is very important to many dance families: fast food, subway, pizza etc but what is lost is health. Dancer’s SHOULD be one of the healthiest group of people out there. Let’s be real. It makes me sad to see parents letting their children eat junk. What bothers me even MORE is that teen and adult dancers are STILL choosing to eat these things. (I’m not sure a 52oz soda from 7-11 is the best choice right before your big show…)
I can’t be the only one who see’s dancer’s eating these things;
OR
*Sigh* I understand that the kids have long days ahead of them and need the energy but the way to get that is NOT through junk food!
Lets talk real quick about good options: Apples, bananas, granola, carrots, water, salads, quinoa, nuts, carbs of some sort {carbs give you energy- take a marathon runners diet for example}, REAL FOOD. (Ie things that are natural to the earth) When I was a competitive dancer, I will admit – I did not eat my healthiest. I lacked protein and never drank enough water. I ate foods that were fast and easy as I was always on the go. (If only I had an option like Shakeology!) And I’m not just sayin this to convince you to buy it….I’m telling you this because it’s TRUE.
When I was a dancing 15+ hours a week, ask anyone, I had so many blood sugar problems! I wouldn’t eat enough or I wouldnt eat the right thing and after I’d get off the stage, I’d many times be shaky and felt like I would pass out. I would NOT feel well. This also lead to a very cranky me…. (I’m sorry for all those who encountered that – Sorry Mom!)
Dancers/Dance Parent’s- PLEASE KEEP READING.
So, why should a dancer drink Shakeology? Because can you imagine the health benefits they will have when they start their day or drink before class, a glass of full nutrition that one could only get with about $41 of fruits and veggies?! Wowza! 🙂
I can’t stress enough how much of a different this drink can make in the life of a dancer. It’s more than just a protein shake. It is the healthiest, nutrient dense, super-food PACKED, chemical free, gluten free shake out there!
How exactly would Shakeology benefit dancers?
- Increase Energy
- Burn fat and eliminate bloating
- Reduce junk food cravings
- Improve digestion
- Increase range of motion
- Provide nutrients that most people are missing
- Offer the worlds greatest superfoods (which have amazing health benefits) in a simple shake
These are all things that can benefit everyone, even non-dancers, but imagine how your dancing can improve if you are no longer feeling groggy, bloated, hungry for junk foods, or feeling like you need caffeine. Did you know- consuming caffeine can cause or increase swelling in the body? This means that your joints aren’t as flexible or mobile as they could be. Buh Bye fluid movements and flexibilty! If you want to be the BEST dancer you can be then why are you not putting the best things out there into your body!?
If you drink other protein type drinks, I challenge you to take a look at this chart..
AHHHHH! Seriously, ya’ll…..
It’s time to cut out the crap and bring in Shakeology!
Still skeptical? Comment below with any questions you may have! And stay tuned to be the first to hear about a neat dance study coming up!

*Please note: I’m not saying we should be putting all of our young dancers on diets – What I am saying is that we should encourage our dancers to make healthier choices and that our older dancers (teen to adult) would do nothing but benefit highly if they added Shakeology to their daily routine.
